WHO WE ARE
Jeff is a twenty-year veteran of political campaigns at every level. Jeff held senior staff positions in the White House and Senate, and has been a senior executive in government relations consulting firms since 2003. Jeff is also a veteran strategist for Democratic candidates, committees, and IEs. He is a Founding Partner at Forbes-Tate, a leading mid-size government relations, strategic communications, grassroots, and fundraising consultancy. Jeff was a Founding Partner at Forbes-Tate’s predecessor, Cauthen Forbes & Williams.
Since his first campaign staff position in 1987, Jeff has worked with and coordinated more than nine different campaigns, ranging from municipal candidates, to the U.S. Congress, and the White House. He was a member of the DNC’s special Democratic Change Commission to improve the presidential delegate selection process, and was a member of the DNC from 2009-2013. Jeff also served as Senior Advisor to the Obama for President Campaign in New Hampshire in the 2008 presidential election. Prior to that, he was Democratic Staff Director for the US Senate Committee on Finance in 2003. Previously, he was Chief of Staff to Senator Max Baucus from 1999-2002.
Before working in the Senate, Jeff served the DNC as Chief of Strategy in 1999. From 1998-99, he served as the Deputy Assistant to President Clinton and was the Deputy Director of Scheduling at the White House. He served as the Special Assistant to the President and Staff Director for Legislative Affairs in 1997. In President Clinton’s 1996 re-election bid, Jeff was Deputy Political Director and Director of Delegate Selection. From 1993-1995, he served as the DNC’s Midwest Political Director.
Jeff was the New Hampshire Field Director for then-Governor Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign. A stalwart of the Clinton-Gore Administration, he began his career in politics working on then-Senator Al Gore’s 1988 presidential bid.
Jeff was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Northfield, Minnesota. He earned a BA in Political Science with an Economics minor from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, in 1987.
